We all come across the same issues when we start but for most of my advanced athletes, it is difficult to identify a single most common problem that affects, as each individual may have their own unique challenges and areas of focus. However, we end up seeing one of those issues sooner or later
Plateaus: This can be due to a variety of factors, such as lack of variety in training, not adequately addressing weaknesses, or simply the natural plateau that occurs as one becomes more proficient in a skill.
Injuries: As with any physical activity, the risk of injuries is always present. It is important for advanced practitioners to take steps to prevent injury, such as warming up properly, using proper technique, and do a minimum of strength training.
Burnout: the big elephant in the room, especially when you are training excessively or not taking adequate breaks to rest and recover. It is important to strike a balance between training and rest to maintain a long-term love for the sport.
Some actions to take;
Proper nutrition: Ensuring that you are consuming a well-balanced diet and enough calories that are rich in nutrients, including carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats, can help you recover from training and improve your performance.
Recovery techniques: Implementing recovery techniques such as foam rolling, stretching, and massage can help reduce muscle soreness and improve flexibility, which can speed up the recovery process and improve performance.
Sleep: Getting sufficient sleep is important for both physical and mental recovery. Aim for at least 7-9 hours of sleep per night to help your body and mind recover from training.
Strength and conditioning: Incorporating strength and conditioning exercises into your training routine can help improve your overall fitness level and reduce the risk of injury.
Mental training: Engaging in mental training techniques such as visualization and goal setting can help improve focus, confidence, and overall performance.
