…Is full of con artists and traps. Just take a look at the overnight instagram sensations. A few shots of their ass or abs and BAM!!! They are now offering online trainings, which are often programs taken from magazines. They are probably sending the same programs to tons of people but advertise it as individualized programs. Tons of people will by into their bullshit and there is no stopping them.
They have people’s health in their hands and take it for granted. I have seen lots of them and only to see a few take the right path, find their niche and became successful along the way.
However, like any industry, there will be those who will only seek monetary gains at all costs. Maximizing revenue in less time and effort as possible.
Marketing gurus
They are great at bringing in new clients but really suck at clientele retention and after sales service. Leads are their only focus, completely overlooking the potential of what your actual clientele can do for you, simply by giving them the best of you and what you can offer.
Most of them have failed miserably with their business but claim that they have all the secrets of how to become a 6 figure personal trainer. Why didn’t they make it to the top then? Is there really more money to make in marketing for trainers then there is in helping people with their health? Are there seriously more trainers than there are people needing help with their health?
My best advice would be to put all your attention into your actual clients. Acquiring trust and building a professional relationship by educating them is as important as training them. They will bring you the best referrals since they experienced first hand and understand your ways.
Then again, it can go both ways. Do a shitty job, like our marketing guru, and they can tell people not to use your services. As the saying goes, do your job right and they will tell a friend, do a shitty job and they will make sure everyone knows.
The food guides.
You would think that those who we should believe and trust the most are those high up with the power to deliver the message to the masses. By the fact that they use this power to put forward their little hidden agenda for monetary gains, you can totally see that what they are trying to sell us as ‘’Healthy’’ is what’s making us sick and fatter. The milk, sugar and agricultural industries are major decision makers in the food guide so why shouldn’t we think that the information not biased?
‘’Control the food, control the people’’ – Codex alimentarus
It’s as if we could all eat the same things and all have the same results. Even if it’s a good (and cheap) start, no plan should last forever and we should be offered alternatives, especially for health and fitness.
The Diet world and word
‘’I have the diet for you!’’
You think a given diet is your way out of fatness? Think again. I erased this word from my vocabulary and never even mention it in my consultations. I think this word has the potential to destroy one’s health in many ways.
It eradicates the principle of ‘’healthy eating’’. Dieting negatively affects your health because people fail to recognize when they are actually hungry, hence making them more vulnerable to eat their emotions and/or have episodes of binge eating. Research[i] has shown that there is no difference between losing weight and gaining it back and maintaining a slightly elevated weight while staying healthy.
Enter the principle of the defended weight. Your body adapts to a given weight and can fluctuate between 10-15 lbs, which is a sort of thermostat that regulates the balance between energy in/energy out. He defines that weight range as the norm. However, once he reaches the lower or higher end, symptoms start showing up. The lower end will leave you cold and always hungry with no energy and those who will eat without being hungry will lean towards the higher end of the norm.
It’s easy to make a house colder by opening up a window but it won’t change the temperature setting on the thermostat. The system will try to bring up the temperature by activating the heaters to bring up the temperature to its initial setting. In this case, our brain has the same purpose as the thermostat. On a diet, it will do everything in its powers to go back to its defended weight.
Hold on now, it doesn’t mean that you should not worry when in the higher end of your defended weight. If you stay too long in the higher range, your brain will see it as the new norm. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for the lower range. The reason why it is so hard to keep the weight off is that your body will also do everything in its power to stay in the mid range, where it is the most comfortable.
So it will take your body a lot longer to adapt to the lower range than to the stay in the higher range. The trick is to do it the healthy way.
MLM (multi level marketing)
How many times have I got calls from salesman of one of those shakes, biscuits or multi level companies who claim that their products can do miracles. Most of them gave up their career to go full time in these pyramid scams. They have practically no experience in health except the fact that they have had great results with this given product, which makes them health professionals all of a sudden.
They surely didn’t call me because of my great experience and knowledge, but are well aware of my huge clients list which I have worked hard to preserve during those 20 + years in the industry. I don’t see any problem with sharing MY clientele so they can get richer with shitty products so that I can lose all credibility for their own monetary gains…
My willingness to help other people does not make me blind.
Before investing into a given program, take time to observe and do some research. Be patient, your investment is well worth the effort.
