I am not perfect nor will I ever be.
Those lessons I learned.
Some of them, the hard way.
Be ambitious
Some people would not even take the risk of thinking about losing 10 pounds for fear of defeat. Fear of failure surpasses the will to succeed. So instead of fighting, they back off before they even started.
For them, we need to have a strong, powerful will, the desire and determination to succeed. We must lead them towards that small step that will become their journey.
Be committed
We, as coaches, have the power to change lives. Commit to helping people being their best, in the best of health. Unfortunately, many times you will have to give the harsh reality, what needs to be said and done, not exactly what they had in mind. Most of all, they will trust you and follow your lead.
The top people in our field are completely committed. They believe in themselves; they believe in their abilities to help and change people; they believe in their products and services; they believe in their customers. They have an intense belief system.
Be prepared
Like rocky said, (start rocky voice) the world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. A good coach can and will change the program around if the needs come. Injuries, energy or just plain guts may be left home and I know, it’s not an excuse. However, for the none athlete population, killing clients might not help them finish their day. Just be realistic. If you know that instead of doing the regular fatloss induced vomiting session, all they need is a good Biceps and Triceps workout, just do it.
Stupidity in this field is trying to prove how good you are by how fast you can make them tap out or throw up. It’s not mixed martial arts. You are a coach, being human, thoughtful and logic is part of it.
Be a continuous learner
Learn more to earn more. Never stop. As soon as you stop using your mind, you start losing it. Whether you like, it is part of the job. If you think the investment is too big, let me tell you one thing, it will come back plus a profit.
Be Accountable
People invest in your time, and you invest in theirs. Trust goes both ways. Accountability is having the willingness to having your performance measured.
It separates the wishers from the action takers that care enough about their future to account for their daily actions. It reflects the integrity of the person you want to be.
Work with people who value your time and your worth as much as you value theirs.
