I’ve been doing things differently lately, just to change it up and put my focus elsewhere, for fun. I’ve been doing status updates on Facebook named #NoShitSherlock Mondays and had a great response, and many great comments. Being honest never hurts anyone, being lied to always do. I don’t feel like I am (or we) there to point out the bullshit spreaders, but we must try to make a shift into the new age. Let go of the misconceptions kept alive by magazines and fitness fanatics who are only looking to validate their lack of progress.
Most people buy into their own excuses because they are comfortable where they are. Only a few will go the extra mile because they know they need to go beyond their “friendly” zone. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of people will end up doing something different because “celebrity X” lost x amount of weight or their friends tried the latest crossfit box around the corner so should they. But only a few know that doing the same thing for more than a few weeks will put you on a stand still, unless you voluntarily do something about it, change and kick your own freakin ass or do something, anything that will make you gain, lose or improve your situation and get closer to destination.
Let’s get going and look at some of the reality of it all. Some might be personal demons, and angels on your shoulders who might be holding you back rather than guiding you towards “da light”, or just some misconceptions you might have had or heard and believed in. It doesn’t make you a bad person, just a misinformed or misled one. Before you judge too fast, explore, try out, take what is useful for you, and let go of the rest. No one is the same, no protocols fits all.
Real fat loss workouts
Get in the gym and take an honest look at the clientele. They are usually split into 2 categories. The cardio and abs crowd and the weight lifters. Look at both crowds and if you spend enough time in the gym every week, you could start seeing patterns. The cardio crowds usually keep the same pace, same routine every time they come to train. Cardio most of the session and abs as a finisher.
The weight lifters are doing something different every workout (exception being the chest and arms only guys). Girls are usually doing legs with a bit of upper body and guys, well, the other way around, upper body mostly and legs once in a blue moon (don’t shoot the messenger, it is what it is, and I said “an honest look”).
Keeping the honesty flowing, one looks strong and healthy, and the others look…tired. Which one would you rather look like?
When I say real fat loss workouts, I mean something that gets your metabolism going, all day, which is MUSCLES!! Use them wisely and often and you’ll be a fat burning machine all your life.
When we start talking about supplements, it’s as if people start thinking that they are suddenly talking to a drug dealer or with Morpheus trying to manipulate their way into choosing the red or the blue pill. Some might even think that we have enough of these nutrients in the food we eat.
Well if only they would eat clean, meaning no junk food, no factory raised meats which is full of hormones and antibiotics, no stress which impairs digestion of these essential nutrients. So I guess you might need some after all to detox all the 200 + environmental toxins you breath every day, or to support the fact that your digestion might be impaired with all the chocomoka latte and donuts you eat every morning on your way to work…It’s just a friendly suggestion.
Try what scares you
Let’s be honest, again. Most people shit on crossfit for example, because, yes, their trainings might not be “properly planned” as some will say, with reason. BUT…It’s still an industry shaker and most of their workouts are killers. Do you have what it takes to do Annie, Angie, Barbara or Fran? (this could be taken so wrong)…
I’ve even had people tell me that they are scared of eating meat in the morning, or just meat in general since it is linked to cancer. The media hypes up the scare tactics for readership and sensationalism. If you read the complete meat scare research, which most people won’t (especially the news guys), they actually said that they have to dig deeper into the research and put a focus on the quality of the participants (health and lifestyle) and the type of meat used. Most people will read the big title and a few first lines and base their opinions on that, and all they know about the subject. I am all for sharing the knowledge, but not bullshit. So before you spread judgment based info, read a bit more than a few lines of an article looking to get your attention, not really a good source of logic and science based information. Do your own research. Internet is the best and the worst thing that happened to education.
